Expectation n Hope.
was watching e 3rd instalment of LOTR, ROTK just now with my mum, n sam(samwise gamgee e brave!!) said something tat somehow made my Spirit man jump.
he said, "we might go back to e shire yet, mr. frodo. there's always hope."
at tat point in time, frodo was thinking tat he'll never make it back again. n basing on their resources n abilities, they could not make it back. but as things turned out, they were saved, by e eagles.
n wat made my Spirit man jump was e realisation of e difference between sam n frodo. frodo was downcast n melancholic(u can blame it on e ring all u want, but i would rather put it to his personality), while sam, thou not always bubbly, but was e one who was more joyful n his happy-go-lucky character pulls him thru many a bad situation. somehow, u can't deny tat someone greater is just watching his back for him. he 'saves' frodo from a castle of orcs who kill each other due to confusion(reminds u of a certain battle in e bible doesn't it?? *grin), how abt tat?!?!? n somehow, i think tat a comparison of sam n frodo is a lot like modern day christians n non-christians.
sam - depends a lot on 'luck' n 'providence'. yet always doing e right thing at e right time. turning back in time to accompany frodo on his journey to mordor, saving him from shelob n in time e orcs, n e part i love most - carrying frodo on his back since he can't officially carry e ring. super cool.
frodo - depends a lot on himself. takes e whole burden of e ring on himself. n by trusting in his own flesh(especially in regards to gollum) he nearly caused his own downfall. always drawn to e darkness becos of e ring, n became slightly evil n wanted to take e ring for himself in e end. scary fellow...
sam always had hope. n it pulled him thru e darkest situations n times. frodo on e other hand, had to depend on... sam!! sam was always e one saving him, pulling him out of tight spots. hope made all e difference. n guess wat, if sam's hope in something tat was not real could carry him so far, how much more our hope?? our hope in Christ n God who doesn't know how to disappoint?? a God who showed for all to see tat His love is real n true by sending His own Son to die for us?? better yet, a love tat is not just a story told, but something in which we can feel?? something tat we can make so personal, something tat fails all words of description, all explanation, but deep within, we just know tat it's e most real, true n pure love we will ever find. God is God. rather deep statement if u think abt it. God - A being conceived as the perfect, omnipotent, omniscient originator and ruler of the universe, the principal object of faith and worship in monotheistic religions. (dictionary's definition). is He all tat to you?? less?? or more??
i wun go on discussing further, thou there's still a little bit more on wat i want to share, but i shall stop here. or if i am to discuss tis issue further, at least let me finish watching e match btw man utd n arsenal first. :p
oh, by faith, man utd is gg to kick arsenal's ass tonight!! hooya!!
