it is important for a man to be teachable.
if a man would not be taught, then he will not receive the revelation from a teaching, and if he doesn’t receive the revelation, then he cannot reap the blessings that come with the revelation.
How do u teach a man to be… ‘teachable’??
if You know His Hesed, then you can be taught.
Verses to support??
It says in the bible, that the Fear of the Lord is the Beginning of Wisdom.
The law of the Lord is good, giving new life to the soul: the witness of the Lord is certain, giving wisdom to the foolish PSALM19:7
*The Law being God's Word.
The fear of The Lord is the beginning of wisdom. All those who do his work have a good understanding. His praise endures forever! Psalm111:10
Let my cry come before you, O Lord; give me wisdom in keeping with your WORD. PSALM119
The fear of Yahweh is the beginning of knowledge; but the foolish despise wisdom and instruction - PROVERBS 1
Pride only breeds quarrels, but with ones who take advice is wisdom. Proverbs 13
He who will not be controlled by training has no respect for his soul, but he who gives ear to teaching will get wisdom. Proverbs 15
okay... just some background verses. (claps for our dear uncle muthu!!)
i don’t think teachability is something elusive. it comes with humility
and humility is not soulful humility, but simply an understanding that one needs God, and cannot do with out Him.
Hmmm… as in willingness??
willingness to learn is a character manifestation from one who is willing to be taught.
and what about this understanding that one needs God?
I believe it comes from Grasping His Hesed. His Love and Mercy towards you. it's not about simply saying and paying lip service that God is Good, and so on.
it's something that we've experienced personally, thru rhema and logos. thru life and it's manifestations.
when you have received His Love, then You will receive His instruction.
cos we can only listen to someone whom we trust to Love us.
so if you don’t trust that God Loves You specially, then how on heaven, hell or earth can we expect to listen and submit to discipline.
yeah, so if i see someone who is unwilling to be taught... Apart from trying to understand things from his point of view, and empathizing with his pain at the moment, i will ask myself or that person this:
has he forgotten how loved he is? Has he forgotten how to listen and how to trust? does he not know that God is for him unconditionally?
and if that person does not seem to fully grasp that, then I’ll ask another question:
what is happening to the person's Word life?
perhaps he's short on God's Word. We need the word to sustain us you know. it's the bread of Life... and when we don’t know what God's Word is, we cant recognize Godly advice as being from the word of God.
and that aside, Pride comes in. the phrase "I'm suffering more than you and you cannot understand" comes up. it's pride to say that, cos by saying that, one has just closed himself off to any further advise. and refused himself any further help. He's saying: "My pain is more real than God's comfort and Word." "My situation is more real than God's Ability to turn things around for
it's a big picture, i feel, this thing about teachability.
One is teachable when he grasps the Hesed of God, and in order to be rooted in God's Love for him, He needs to know that he's the Righteousness of God in Christ. The Righteousness Consciousness is what Fuels our Faith to believe. The Beloved Consciousness is what strengthens our sense of hope.
so if one is not teachable... then perhaps he's lacking in one, or both of the above.
